A Christmas Carol (3D)

Walt Disney Pictures present A Christmas Carol in 3D this coming 19th November!

“DISNEY’S A CHRISTMAS CAROL,” a multi-sensory thrill ride re-envisioned by Academy Award®-winning filmmaker Robert Zemeckis, captures the fantastical essence of the classic Dickens tale in a groundbreaking 3D motion picture event.

Ebenezer Scrooge (JIM CARREY) begins the Christmas holiday with his usual miserly contempt, barking at his faithful clerk (GARY OLDMAN) and his cheery nephew (COLIN FIRTH). Scrooge later encounters the ghost of his dead business partner Joseph Marley, who’s paying the price in the afterlife for his own callousness. Marley hopes to help Scrooge avoid a similar fate and tells him that he will be visited by three spirits. But when the ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Yet to Come take Old Scrooge on an eye-opening journey revealing truths he’s reluctant to face, he must open his heart to undo years of ill will before it’s too late.

Guilt free

Went AEON Starbucks for study session this morning..
Used freaking 3+ hours to study one chapter of my business studies..
Tried to cramp everything into my head..
Fortunately, i did it =)
But i'm sure i'm gonna forget what i studied soon..
Nevertheless, it'll be easier when i study again during eve of that paper..
After studying, went for a movie called "The Time Traveller's Wife"..
It's a very touching movie..
And in a way, romantic as well..
A must watch!!
During the movie, there's this malay couple siting behind me and my friend..
They're talking non-stop from the beginning of the movie!!
I was pissed of course..
Gave them a mean look and shoosh-ed them..
They kept quiet for a moment, and i mean a moment only..
Then they continued again..
Wanna talk then go outside talk la, right?
You paid rm7 just to talk in the cinema!
What a waste of money..
Not to mention, very disturbing, irritating and inconsiderate as well!
Well, i did show my disgust towards them..
Saying out loud: Stupid fellers talking non stop in the cinema dunno for what?!
I'm just afraid i didn't say loud enough for them to hear =)
The uncle sitting beside me couldn't tahan any longer and said: Boleh diam ah??!!
Then only they really kept quiet..
Ughh..
Well, that's basically my day today..
Studied and relaxed..
Guilt free =D

Pek Chek

There's like SOOO many cool contests with cool prizes all around me and yet i couldn't join most of them..

Such as one KFC contest that requires us to purchase one KFC breakfast meal and get a photo of you with it shot. And you can't take multiple shots from different angles. It has to be different for each photo you submit. The more photo, the higher the points, the bigger the chances of you winning. Participants would also have to keep the receipt as proof of purchase. Weekly prizes are an iphone, while the grand prize is a MacBook. Tempting, yet not that worth it. Imagine all the cash spent on breakfast meal at KFC and you're not even sure if you'd win!

Then there are those movie premiere tickets+prizes from movies from nuffnang recently. I REALLY want them, badly. But the dates of the premieres are during my exam. No point joining when i can't even go! The latest one is tickets to New Moon's premiere!!!!!! Ugh.................

Pek chek betul : /

p/s on the bright side, i won a free DiGi broadband modem and free 3 months subscription to DiGi broadband from the DiGi pimp my broadband contest that i had joined previously =)

Touching Story aka Ugliness of Educated people

I heard this true and touching story yesterday from my EL tuition teacher and i've decided to share it with you guys..

My teacher had a female student around 2 years back taking EL tuition at her place. She was a fun and bubbly girl, always laughing away in class. In other words, a very lively girl. Few months later, she seemed unlike herself. Never that cheerful and lively as before. And there are bruises all over her. Slowly, the truth behind her sorrows came surfacing. My teacher was told through the girl's friends that she was being abused by her mother and her aunt. Her father had passed away. Everyday she had to take care of her sick granny who seems to be a little mentally disturbed as well, feed her, bathe her. If she didn't bathe her in time, her mom would ask her to miss school. She's also told to be back home straight after school to do all necessary chores including cooking for her granny and feeding her. Sometimes, her granny would refuse to eat and spit the food on her. Sometimes, she'll even scratch her all over. If she didn't finish her chores, or forgotten something, her mom would beat her up. She had even been beaten up with a plastic chair little kids use by her mom just because she forgotten to clean the table after dinner. And she was locked out from home the whole night! She had to hide near the drain so that those gangsters and bad people loitering there won't take notice of her and harm her.

On one account, the girl's cousin brother who's just 5 or 6 went to her room and was having some normal conversation with him while she's cleaning her cupboard. She went out to get something and when she went back to her room, the lil boy's fingers somehow went into the cupboard door. Her aunt came looking after hearing the boy's cries and immediately accused her of bullying the boy. She took her hand and put it at the door frame, and slammed the door! The girl's school teacher was concerned of her as she didn't do her exam while others did and went to her house to see her mom. The mother made up stories about the girl saying how she's a liar, a bad girl and etc and with that she sent off the teacher. The teacher couldn't do anything to help her but she did went to some government agent or something to ask for help. The staff there said that if she's below 18, they could take actions immediately but she's 18 already and hence they couldn't do anything. Her friends however are very supportive of her. They had plans to kidnap her from home such that she could go somewhere safe. And when that plan was in progress, somehow the girl's granpa got to know about it and pleaded her not to go, indian style, saying how her granma would be without anyone taking care of her and etc. In the end, the girl didn't go. So her days continued like how it used to be. Beaten up by her mom and aunt.

The mother wanted the girl to stop tuition and so she went to see my tuition teacher. Again, she made up stories about the girl. But my teacher sort of defended her. And goes on to convince her and in the process tells stories to her about parental guidance and education and abuse and etc. Her mom then decides to let the girl continue her tuition but she had to find her own transport. Her supportive friends took care of that of course. So exam is here and her aunt asked her to miss her EL exam cuz she have to take her granny to the clinic/hospital for check up. Her aunt said that her granny's appointment is more important but on the other hand, she and the girl's mom asked why isn't their mother(granny) dead yet? So the girl finished one of her morning session papers 1/2 hour earlier, sent granny for appointment just to tell the doctor her progress, her problems, her condition etc, and then rushed back to take her EL exam. She got an A or 2 and the other 2 subjects is either Bs or Cs. Now, this girl is happily studying in UPM and tries not to go home as much as possible.

It seems that before her father passed away, her father used to be a alcoholic. After drinking at night, he would enter the girl's room, wake her up from sleep, and hits her towards the wall. He'll abuse the wife as well. The wife couldn't stand her daughter being abused and therefore asked for a divorce. Few months after the divorce, he died. Ironically, it's the mother and aunt who's abusing this girl now. When she tried to apply for Uni after getting her results, her mom actually asked her not to. But thankfully, some sense got into the aunt. The aunt insisted that the girl must go to Uni. So when applying, her mom asked her to apply for Uni(s) that's nearby such as UM. If she doesn't, then no Uni for her. She secretly applied for UPM and thank God, she got it.

This girl here, never condemn and never reported this case. Her friends and even the teacher tried to help her, but she said no. Her aunt once said that she would keep the girls ID after she's 18 and she'll be like a maid with no ID and she can't do anything about her. They once hired a maid and the girl got beaten up in front of the maid for not doing the chores while the maid can sit down and watch tv. Everyone in her house had a room but her room is the living room. She sleeps and studies there. All this and she never condemned a bit. She didn't even know that when she's 18, she is free to go anywhere and can file a report about her missing ID as she had never been out with her friends. Nothing.

Most importantly, her mother works in a bank. While her aunt is a lawyer. You must be thinking WTH?! Right?

I was really touched and disgusted at the same time when i heard this story. What's wrong with people these days? You're SO educated, yet what's the outcome? Well, i know you must be firing away all the *toots* in your mind, as disgusted about these 2 women as i am. Sigh.

There are 2 lessons i learned here. One, don't condemn so much as my life is way better than hers. So appreciate what i have and make full use of it. Live life to the fullest. Two, to voice out no matter what. Been abused and not talk about it? Not a chance. Wouldn't wanna be in her shoes now would i?

So readers, communication is important. Talk to your parents. Share your opinions. Have random conversations. Something! You won't want to somehow end up like her.

Ugliness of educated people. Ugly right?

Tell me about it.
